CIRCE - Classics and ICT Resources Course for Europe -

Preparatory visit in Verona 2003

Preliminary aims

The key ideas of the project

The project aims

- to develop, test, implement and disseminate a course on Classics & ICT for the initial and in-service training of teachers and student teachers

 -  to show teachers what is available on the internet both for their own study and for classroom use; also to teach them how to manage the use of ICT in the classroom: for example how to evaluate the work of their students

 - to create and test teaching methodologies and pedagogical strategies for the use of ICT in Classics lessons, including the development of materials for use by pupils such as texts with commentary and vocabulary, exercises, tasks, tests

 - to teach teachers on how to adapt their own didactic materials to ICT: how to create grammar and vocabulary  exercises with hot potatoes, how to make powerpoint presentations

Products of the project:

- a printed (loose-leaf) manual for teachers, which can be used as a framework for their own projects

- a website which must serve as a support for both teachers, teacher trainers and students: it should contain among others a forum to communicate with each other on topics, to exchange lesson plans and exercices, thereby encouraging networking of European classics teachers
